Nicki Minaj's new video for Pound The Alarm came out today. With a carnival theme taking place in her homeland of Trinidad, Minaj flaunts around as a "busty peacock." (according to my friend) Check it out.
Drake and Rihanna lead this year's VMA nominations five a piece. The two will contend with and against each other for video of the year — Rihanna f/ Calvin Harris for We Found Love, and also for her feature on Drake's Take Care.
Rihanna was also nommed for We Found Love in the best female and pop video categories, while Where Have You Been competes for best choreography and visual effects.
Drake competes for best male video, cinematography, and art direction for Take Care, and earning a fifth nomination for best hip-hop video nominee, HYFR featuring Lil Wayne.
As a solo artist and as a collaborator with Drake and Coldplay, Rihanna is an overall nominee leader with 11.
Last year's video of the year winner, Katy Perry, received four nominations, including a video of the year nod for Wide Awake, which also racked up nods for best art direction and visual effects. Part of Me received a best female video nod.
Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know M.I.A.'s Bad Girls round out the video of the year slate.
Previous Moonmen darlings Lady Gaga and Adele were shafted, save for Adele who received a technical nod for Someone Like You.
